- What does Email-It do?
- ----------------------
-
- Email-It converts any file to and from an extended email format. Email
- capability coupled with Encrypt-It's secure encryption routines provide
- you with the means for secure communications even thru electronic
- information services that support only email.
-
- Email-It's email encoded format contains the initial file's name, date,
- and time. Extensive checks are built into the email file structure to
- detect any errors that may occur during electronic file transmission.
- Email-It is basically an extended UUENCODE/UUDECODE (you don't have to
- know what this is to run Email-It). The following area shows how to run
- Email-It from the command line.
-
- Usage:
- ------
-
- Command line: Email-It <mode E=Encode D=Decode> <source file> <dest file>
-
- Notes: Leave destination file blank on decode to use initial file's name.
- Email-It provides extensive error checking via built in CRCs.
- Distribute freely with Encrypt-It for Windows and DOS.
-
- Distribution
- ------------
-
- Email-It is a DOS based program that may be freely distributed with the
- shareware and full versions of Encrypt-It for Windows and DOS. The Windows
- version of Encrypt-It builds in Email-It functionality and also provides
- the command line driven version.
-
-
- Notes:
-
- 1. For best results with Email-It, you should first encrypt a file and
- then convert it to email. These steps must be performed in this order
- for your file to be protected and still be able to be transmitted
- electronically through information services.
- 2. Email-It builds in extensive error checking via CRCs. You will be
- notified of ANY change to your file. Email-It is not the cause of
- the CRC errors! Dirty phone lines, lack of transmission error
- detection/correction, data conversion in the electronic service, etc.
- are normally the weak areas for email. We can't correct the
- transmission errors but we can warn you that they occurred.
